Tongariro National park is an incredibly vast natural volcanic area absolutely spectacular to drive through. It’s home to many stunning walks with plenty of waterfalls, lookout points and wildlife as well as ski fields and the most famous Tongariro Crossing (Mt Doom, in ‘The lord of the rings’).
